Itinerary Details

Day 01: Kolkata

Arrive in Kolkata. On arrival transfer to hotel.Afternoon visit the following places:

Dakshineshwar Temple– Dakshineshwar Temple dedicated to Goddess Kali is 20 kilometers north of Kolkata city and was established in 1847 by Rani Rasmoni.

Kalighat– Kalighat Kali Temple is a Hindu temple in West Bengal, India dedicated to the Hindu goddess Kali. It is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. Kalighat was a Ghat sacred to Kali on the old course of the Hooghly river in the city of Calcutta The name Calcutta is said to have been derived from the word Kalighat. The river over a period of time has moved away from the temple. The temple is now on the banks of a small canal called Adi Ganga which connects to the Hoogly. The Adi Ganga was the original course of the river Hoogly. Hence the name Adi (original) Ganga.

Day 02: Kolkata-Burdwan-Bolpur

Morning after early breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to visit the following places:

Mangal Chandi Temple– The Mangal Chandi Temple, Ujani Shakti Peetha, is situated in Ujjani in Guskara, Barddhaman, West Bengal. Here, at Ujani Shaki Peeth, the right wrist of Devi Sati had fallen. She is in the form of Devi Mangala Chandika or Mangal Chandi and Kapilambar appears as Vairabh. From then onwards, the place became pious and was deified to be a Shakti Peeth of Bengal.

Yogadhya Temple– This is the one of the 51 Holy Shakti Peethas called as Shri Jugaadya Devi Shakti Peeth where a part of Sati’s right toe was fallen. This temple is located in Khirgram Village in West Bengal. The idol of Goddess is known as Yogadaya. Here Lord Shiva is known as Khirakantha. The original temple of ancient times was destroyed during Muslim invasion. Later on in 1770-80, the southern side of the temple structure was rebuilt by King Kirti Chandra.

Bahula Temple– Shakti Peeth Bahula is also one of the famous pilgrimages that is laid down near the bank of Ajay river. Shakti Peethas is situated at Bhardhaman district near Katwa in West Bengal, India. The holy place is dedicated to a divine power “Goddess Durga”, who is worshipped by a large number of Hindu devotees. It is believed that Devi Sati’s ‘Left Arm’ fell here. It is a famous Hindu temple in West Bengal.

Evening transfer to Bolpur. On arrival check into Hotel. Overnight at Bolpur.

Day 03: Bolpur-Tarapeeth

Morning after early breakfast check out from the hotel and proceed to Tarapeeth with a visit to following places:

Kankalitala– This is one of the Shakti Peethas where the waist (or kankal in Bengali) of Parvati fell which is at present the Kankalitala town. Goddess Parvati is the residing deity of the Kankalitala Temple.Sati’s waist landed at Kankalitala. It created a depression in the earth which later filled up with water and formed the sacred kund. It is repeatedly told that the actual body part now lies underneath this water.

Attahasa– The temple of Attahas, also known as Fullora Attahas, is believed to be one of the 51 Shakti Peethas at which the body parts and jewelry of the Hindu goddess Shakti fell to Earth. The goddess is so large that the lower lip is about 15 to 18 feet wide. The temple is a site of Hindu pilgrimage throughout the year.

Nandikeshwari Temple– Nandikeshwari temple is located in earlier Nandipur village, which is now a part of Sainthia town, Birbhum district, West Bengal (220 Km from Kolkata). The Sainthia town is located on the bank of river Mayurakshi. According to Hindu scripture Neck lace of Sati fell here. Goddess Shakti is worshipped here as Nandini and Lord Bhairav as Nandikeshwar.The name Sainthia is derived from ‘Sain’, a Bengali term used to refer to an Islamic priest. Sainthia is also known as ‘Nandipur’, after Nandikeshwari Temple.
Evening check into Hotel.Overnight at Tarapeeth.

Day 04: Tarapeeth

Morning after early breakfast ,proceed to visit the following places:

Tarapith Temple-Tarapith Temple is a 13th century Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu goddess Tara, one of the 10 Mahavidyas in Hinduism. It is one of the 108 Shakti Pithas in India.. As per the Devi Bhagavata Purana, Kalika Purana, Markandeya Purana and Shakti Peetha Stotram, the third eye of Goddess Sati fell here, after Lord Vishnu’s Sudarshan Chakra splintered her body into many parts to calm down Mahadev’s rage, during his cosmic dance.Vashishta Muni, who first saw it, started worshipping there and the place was later developed into a temple. In addition to the temple, Tarapith is closely associated with the mystic saint Bamakhepa, who is said to have had deep spiritual experiences in this area. The cremation ground accompanying the temple is one of the most revered and popular sites for tantric practices in Shaktism.

Bamdev shangha Ashram– It is another good place to look out for in Tarapith, its the ashram dedicated to Bamdev shanga who was one of the “BHAKT” of Maa Tara who dedicate his entire life in tge service of Maa Tara.

Cremation Ground-The cremation ground (maha smasan), amidst dark forest surroundings, is located on the river side at the end of town limits, away from the village life and practices of the Bengali social order. In Bengal, the cremation ground of Tarapith is also considered integral to the Shakti peeth. It is believed that goddess Tara can be seen in shadows drinking blood of goats which are sacrificed every day at her altar, to satiate her anger and seek favours.
Tantric practitioners believe that Tara is attracted to bones and skeletons and the cremation ground is her preferred residence.

Day 05: Bahrampur-Kolkata

Morning after breakfast check out from hotel and proceed to Kolkata.with a enroute visit to below place:

Nalateshwari Temple– It is one of the 51 places where parts of Sati’s body fell thus it is known as Shakti peethas. The throat of Sati or “Nala” fell here as known by tradition. This is a beautiful place with fine vicinity and plateaus all around it where Maa Nalateswri resides and has resemblance with Kamakha and Kalighat

Later transfer to Kolkata. On arrival transfer to airport.
