The Manimahesh Yatra is one of the holiest Hindu pilgrimages dedicated to Lord Shiva, held annually in the Bharmour region of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh, starting on Sri Krishna Janmashtami and concluding on Radha Ashtami. The journey covers approximately 261 km from Pathankot, out of which the last 16 km from Hadsar (Bharmour) has to be completed on foot, pony, palki, or pithu. Pilgrims undertake this sacred trek to visit the Manimahesh Lake and seek blessings of the majestic Kailash Peak (Chamba Kailash), which stands at an altitude of nearly 14,000 ft.
